Stephanie Singer, Certified Pilates Instructor
"I attribute Pilates to my return to exercise, and I am passionate about encouraging others to develop a strong physical foundation so that they can continue pursuing the activities they love as they age."
Stephanie began her career in movement at the age of 13 when she was invited to attend the professional performing arts boarding school National Academy of Arts in Champaign Ill, where she studied ballet on scholarship during her high school years. Her dance background led her to develop a lifelong love of exercise and fitness activities.
Stephanie has a BA in Clinical Psychology and a MS in Education and Policy. Her professional experience includes workforce development program management within nonprofit and startup environments throughout New England and nationwide. Stephanie discovered Pilates after a lower back injury prevented her from being able to complete a half-marathon after months of training; she learned that years of reinforcing muscle imbalances and core weaknesses caused the debilitating injury. Stephanie attributes Pilates to her return to exercise, and is passionate about encouraging others to develop a strong physical foundation so that they can continue pursuing the activities they love as they age.
Stephanie earned her Pilates Equipment and Mat certifications in Rehabilitation and Conditioning Exercise through DK Body Balancing, which is affiliated with University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The DK Body Balancing Comprehensive program totals 450 hours and is based on the Balanced Body Pilates method. It includes training in anatomy and Kinesiology, with integrated aspects of Alexander and Feldenkrais techniques. A recognized component of the UNLV curriculum offerings, program courses are approved by the Nevada and Arizona State Boards of Physical Therapists for continuing education units.
Additionally Stephanie is currently studying to receive a second comprehensive Pilates certification through the BASI Pilates ProBridge program, and plans to complete it in the Spring of 2020. She is certified in the Stott Pilates Total Barre Method, and The NeuroRehab Movements’ Pilates for Neurological Conditions, which applies the latest research in neuroplasticity and neurorehabilitation to a Pilates based movement program.
Originally from San Jose, CA, Stephanie moved to the east coast with her parents and younger sister when she was nine years old and they eventually landed in Hanover, NH. After attending Alfred University in NY, Stephanie spent many years in Boston and lived most recently in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. She now feels fortunate to call Sunapee, NH her home where she resides with her husband, two children and their golden retriever.
